SCULPTRA
Sculptra® is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen. It restores volume while tightening and thickening the skin. Sculptra® is not like a regular hyaluronic acid filler that immediately volumizes and gives visible results right away. With Sculptra®, you’ll see a natural filling effect within the first couple days, followed by a decrease in volume. At this point, the body slowly starts to produce its own collagen, re-establishing volume that has been lost over time.
A lot of things happen to us as we age, but changes in our skin can be the most noticeable,
especially on our face. When we get past a certain age, our body starts slowing down its production
of collagen, which can lead to sagging skin.
At Genesis MedSpa we love helping our patients put their best faces forward. When it comes to
restoring your facial structure and volume, Sculptra in Lubbock is an effective treatment! Sculptra partners
with your body’s natural process to not only fill in hollow areas, but to actually boost your body’s
production of collagen over the long term.
HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?
As explained on the Sculptra® website, “Sculptra Aesthetic is made with biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by a trained specialist. The specialist injects treatment within the deep dermis, where strands of collagen support your skin’s structure. Over time, Sculptra Aesthetic helps the body reproduce lost collagen. On average, three injection appointments are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment vary from person to person, depending on how much collagen has been lost.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FILLER & SCULPTRA?
Fillers are gel substances, like hyaluronic acid, that diminish lines by pushing up the dermis space beneath wrinkles and creases. Results appear immediately and can last up to several months. Sculptra is a collagen stimulator used to diminish facial wrinkles by helping to restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin. Results appear gradually over the treatment regime (typically three injections over the course of three to four months) and can last up to two years.*
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH SCULPTRA?
-
Cheek wrinkles
-
Deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), also called “smile lines”
-
Lines framing the mouth (marionette lines)
-
Chin wrinkles
-
Temples
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
After your Sculptra treatment you may return to your normal daily activities. You will need to ice the area after treatment. You will also need to massage the treated area multiple times a day for a few days after receiving injections. You should avoid facials for two weeks following the procedure. A few days following the injections, your appearance will return to how it was prior to treatment. This is normal as it takes a few weeks for visible results to appear. There may be some bruising, tenderness, or swelling in the treated areas. A follow up should be scheduled for a few weeks after initial injections.
ANYTHING I NEED TO DO AFTER TREATMENT?
Massage the treated area to evenly distribute Sculptra. A good rule of thumb is 5-5-5: Massage the injected area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days in a row.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
Because Sculptra stimulates your body’s own natural collagen production, your results will continue to improve over time. They will appear gradually, so while you’ll be looking better, no one will be able to tell you’ve had any “work” done. Plus, they will last up to 2 years!
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
On average, you will have 2 to 3 treatment sessions over the course of a few months. The number of injections at each session will vary based on the treatment plan determined by you and your aesthetic provider.
HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS?
Sculptra works by stimulating your body’s natural function to create more collagen. This makes it difficult to give an exact amount of time that it takes to see results. Most patients see results within a few weeks. Although initially after the procedure the area may look plumper, once the swelling subsides and the water that was injected with the poly-L-lactic acid is absorbed your appearance will return to how it was before the injections. As more collagen begins to be produced, visible results will gradually start to appear.
